Overview of Faculty

Penrith Selective High School’s Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) faculty is made up of enthusiastic teachers who are committed to helping all students achieve to their potential. 

Our programs focus on giving students the knowledge and skills required to develop lifelong health habits, to promote active lifestyles, to enhance personal development and wellbeing as well as to maximise movement potential through a range of fun, engaging and challenging practical activities.

 Courses Offered

In addition to the mandatory PDHPE curriculum for Years 7-10, we also offer a range of electives in Stages 5 & 6 that allow students to pursue interests in sport, coaching, health and recreation which can support future study or career pathways.

Mandatory

  • Mandatory PDHPE for Years 7-10:
  • Stage 4 PDHPE (Years 7 and 8)
  • Stage 5 PDHPE (Years 9 and 10)

The PDHPE faculty also delivers the mandatory Stage 6 ' Life Ready’ course. The course includes important opportunities for learning about contemporary issues and developing life and enterprise skills in preparation for the future.

The staff of each faculty are highly involved in running and supporting student leaders to lead a wide variety of co-curricular, enrichment, clubs & societies as part of the school's strong commitment to  talent development opportunities. These programs also play a key part of ensuring that students work alongside not only their classmates, but with other like minded students from across the 6 cohorts within the school.
