Overview of Faculty
It is through the study of English that students analyse, understand, communicate with and build relationships with others and with the world around them.
The English Faculty consists of teachers who provide excellent teaching and learning opportunities for students. Our focus is on engaging our students in relevant and rigorous teaching and learning, in a supportive, positive learning environment. We provide a differentiated curriculum focused on developing critical and creative thinkers.
Our teachers provide a variety of engaging teaching and learning experiences that address the broad range of learning styles and needs for all students in all year groups. By utilising innovative programs and engaging with a broad range of teaching tools, the English teachers at Penrith Selective High School offer students outstanding learning opportunities.

In Years 11 and 12, the study of English is mandatory. Courses offered include:
English Advanced
English Extension 1
English Extension 2 (offered in Year 12)
In Years 7-10, the Study of English is mandatory.

The staff of each faculty are highly involved in running and supporting student leaders to lead a wide variety of co-curricular, enrichment, clubs & societies as part of the school's strong commitment to talent development opportunities. These programs also play a key part of ensuring that students work alongside not only their classmates, but with other like minded students from across the 6 cohorts within the school.
