Penrith Selective High School organises a number of international exchange visits. Over recent years, this has involved schools in China, Italy, and Japan.
Hakusan
Hakusan City Council and Penrith Selective High School have a very successful exchange program that has been operating since 1993. Students visit each country in alternate years. The objectives of the program are to:
- foster closer ties and improve relations between Australia and Japan
- develop in students an understanding of another culture
- consolidate and extend language skills
- improve cooperation and collaboration with others
When our students visit Japan, the students stay with host families and are involved in a number of cultural activities
- staying with a Japanese family
- visiting schools
- visiting museums
- learning Japanese
- experiencing Japanese culture, e.g. dressing in kimonos, playing Japanese drums, eating Japanese food
This long-standing program brings great benefits and opportunities to both our students and students from the Hakusan schools which participate.
